About

My name is Dionne and I am so happy that you came to visit my our blog!  I started this blog because of my love of food and trying different foods, techniques and recipes.  Try Anything Once…for the sake of your piehole is a family blog and we love to try things that are new and interesting to us.

I love my daughter, my family + friends, coffee, funny movies, reading, cooking, baking, baking bread, music, playing with kids, marketing, investing, photography, art, dogs…

I am a substitute paraeducator for my local school district for fun and I am co-owner and co-founder of Unique Home Options, creative home options for a good cause.  I am also co-founder of No More Hungry Nights, ending hungry nights for families one house at a time.

I had no idea that food blogging was such a popular idea among other food addicts such as myself, but after connecting with other food bloggers I learned that it was a community and definitely not a competition.

Food blogging has changed our lives.  Sometimes I begin with an idea and with the input of people close to me a new and creative recipe is created!  If I see an interesting recipe from one of my fellow bloggers, I love making it and sharing it right here on this blog!  Try Anything Once has become more than a food blog.  It is a place where I meet new friends and keep in touch with familiar ones.

I believe very strongly in allowing other people to participate in creating new recipes and perfecting techniques.  If I rely solely on my own knowledge, I limit my potential growth and ability to learn new things.

When the kids cook, I think it’s important that they have a say in what they cook and how they cook it after receiving a few educational pointers.  That’s how they learn.  I’ve also gotten some good ideas from them so it really is beneficial to be open to new ideas. 🙂

By the way when I say “our” I mean myself, my other half, my daughter and my stepson.  My entire family enjoys reading about our food antics here on this blog and I post frequent updates and photos on our Facebook page.

If you would like to get in touch with me, please email me at yourstrulyewalani@gmail.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!

  1. How have I not seen this blog of yours???? I mean, I think I saw something and commented on the Sin Dawg bread. Is this that same place? I know, I’m asking you to keep tabs on my blogging…sorry about that. My disorganization at times can get a bit needy! I LOVE the blog. I LOVE the pics! I’m sorry I haven’t seen it or realized I had seen it or whatever the case may be but now, you won’t be able to get rid of me! I’m all signed up to get your posts via email. I just hope they don’t cause me to want to nibble on my Blackberry!!

    • Yes, I think you did comment on the Sin Dawg and please don’t apologize! It’s hard to keep everything organized, trust me I spend most of my time trying to keep everything in it’s place…if exercise in futility counted I would be about fifty pounds total but alas it’s not like the kind of exercise I need more of.

No need to apologize! And just for the record, I read your blog and follow it like a little puppy dog because I love it. I hope no one that I follow ever feels that they should in turn read my blog but don’t get me wrong I’m glad to see you here!

Welcome to my food addiction. It’s only getting worse. 😀

  6. My aunt used to always say, “Try everything once except sex and drugs…” I clicked on your blog thinking it had the same concept. Not what I expected, but happy to have stumbled here anyway. 🙂
